Yes, in general you need a connection. The app downloads levels and exercises from our servers, speech recognition is processed on our server, and the video course streams online.
If your connection is slow or drops, an exercise may take a while to load, the pronunciation check may fail, or the video may stop. If that happens, try again when you have a better signal or connect to Wi-Fi.
